Featured Partner - Save the Turtles of Parismina
The town of Barra de Parismina, along Costa Rica's North Caribbean coast, has always depended on sea turtles for survival. Originally founded as a hub for the trade in turtles, few nesting turtles and nests survived. However, in 2001, a small group of residents formed Save the Turtles of Parismina to protect their beach and turtles. Now, poaching has decreased dramatically and many residents earn income from patrolling and providing services to travelers and volunteers.
