Full Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival & Matura
Our guide and bus will meet us at the airport and transport us to the small town of Matura. Our home for the next two nights will be Miss Suzan’s Guesthouse, a comfortable spot with great service.
Day 2 – Matura Beach
We will take us on a hike through the rainforest and learn about the local flora and fauna. Tonight, we will learn about Nature Seekers turtle protection efforts and visit the nesting beach.
Day 3 - Grande Riviere
After breakfast, we will board our bus to head to Grande Riviere, stopping for lunch and a visit to an historic lighthouse. This evening, we will meet members of the Grande Riviere Nature Tour Guide Association who protect the world’s most densely populated leatherback nesting beach. We will be staying at the Mt. Plaisir Hotel right on the beach.
Day 4 – Grande Riviere
Early birds can go onto the beach at sunrise to photograph leatherback turtles still on the beach, something very few places can offer. Later in the season, people will also be able to see hatchlings as they make their way to the ocean. Today, there will be a variety of optional activities to choose from in the area. Tonight is another optional night on the beach.
Day 5 – Charlotteville, Tobago
After breakfast, we will fly over to Tobago for three nights. This evening we will relax in Charlotteville, a beautiful little town in the northwest corner of the island. We will stay three nights at the Man O’ War Bay Cottages, located on the beach near a 1,000 acre cocoa plantation and forest reserve.
Day 6 - Charlotteville
Today, we will explore Tobago’s coral reefs, some of the most beautiful in the Caribbean, home to hawksbill and green turtles and many other creatures. First, we will snorkel right off Charlotteville Beach. There will also be an optional kayak trip. After lunch we will visit nearby Pirate’s Bay.
Day 7 - Little Tobago
After breakfast, we will take a glass-bottomed boat to Little Tobago, where we can snorkel among giant brain coral. This afternoon, we will relax on the beach and enjoy dinner on the town.
Day 8 - Depart and travel day
Today, we will fly back to Trinidad to catch flights home. We will leave with lots of photos and memories of the turtles we are helping to save on these incredible islands.
