Billion Baby Turtles Hawksbill Grants
We are awarding up to 2 grants of US $5,000 each for hawksbill nesting projects. The grants may be renewed annually upon completion of reporting and depending upon successful completion of project deliverables. Please read the eligibility requirements below before applying.
Proposals will only be accepted from non-profit organizations working in developing countries or territories of developed countries. Community-based organizations working on beaches with direct threats such as consumption of eggs, meat, or shells will receive preference.
To submit: Send pre-proposals and budgets to email@example.com.
Only beaches focusing primarily on hawksbill nesting are eligible. Beaches with other species nesting can still apply but the primary nesting must be hawksbills.
Proposals will be accepted in English or Spanish (Spanish pre-proposal available below).
Non-profit conservation organizations are eligible; this opportunity is not open for individuals or scientific research.
Previous Billion Baby Turtle recipients and applicants to the Berman Fund are not eligible to apply.
There are no geographic restrictions and no specified length (projects can be 1 year old or 50 years old).
Preference will be given to community-based organizations with fewer financial resources or funders and more immediate threats such as egg or meat consumption or the hunting for the turtleshell trade.
Pre-proposals will be accepted until May 31st, 2019. Download the pre-proposal form below.
Applicants will be notified by June 20th about submitting a full proposal. Up to five projects will be selected for full proposals.
Full proposals will be due by July 15th, 2019.
Final decisions will be made by August 15th, 2019.
